Masterpiece Monday #2 - Henri Matisse

Hello and welcome to the second installment of Masterpiece Monday! If you missed the first post, you can check it out here and see what it's all about!

Today we are looking at artist Henri Matisse. The piece below is called Harmony in Red.





Henri Matisse is such a fun artist to learn about. He painted big, bright, bold pictures. Some people thought that his artwork was so crazy that they nicknamed his style of art "wild beast!" When Henri Matisse got older, he had to be in a wheelchair and could no longer work on his giant paintings, but that didn't stop him from doing art! Instead, he switched mediums and started to work with cut paper, making beautiful collages. Today's project is inspired by Matisse's collages, a few of which are shown below.
